Maria Feodorovna and Alexander III at the Court of King Christian IX

Here is the famous family portrait by Laurits Tuxen of King Christian IX, Queen consort Louise, their children, children's spouses, and grandchildren, painted between 1883 and 1886.

The extended family had gathered in Denmark to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of King Christian IX's reign. They are in the Garden Hall of Fredensborg Palace.

Maria Feodorovna (Princess Dagmar of Denmark) and Tsar Alexander III are the couple standing under the chandelier. The King and Queen are seated, to their left. Alexandra and Albert Edward (the future King Edward VII) are at the far left.

The little girl on the floor with the book is said to be Olga Alexandrovna, daughter of Tsar Alexander III and Maria Feodorovna.  Olga was an artist.  She, her husband and their two sons escaped from Russia during the revolution and after her mother died lived for some time on a farm near Ballerup in Denmark.
